With all of the many things involved with a destination wedding & preparing yourselves for it, the last thing you need to worry about for your wedding are the decorations! That's where we come in... your Tiki Trips destination wedding specialists not only plan your destination wedding, we can also prepare your wedding reception table decorations for your trip so you don't have to! We have several color schemes & themes available to choose from, or we can customize your package if necessary to your ideas & tastes. Best of all, we shop for, collect & pack all of this for you so that it's ready to go with you on your destination wedding!
But why do you need to bring decorations for your destination wedding? What about the decorations already at the destination? Most destination wedding packages only include decoration of the wedding ceremony area where you actually get married... most do nothing for the reception/dinner tables-- not even candles!-- so you end up with a plain dinner table with nothing but plates & napkins/utensils. Boring! That's not what anyone wants at their wedding reception. So, after having planned & decorated many destination wedding receptions over the years, we at Tiki Trips know what looks good, what is memorable & what works best!

Note: Shimmer/sparkle accents can be added or left out (as "matte" finish) if desired; please specify when ordering. Some packages listed as "formal" or with "shimmer/sparkle" accents are not recommended as "matte" finish or are not possible without it. All packages include candles that complement the theme/color of the package. Please ask your Tiki Trips agent for more details.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1-- How should I go about choosing a decorator package?
The easiest way to choose a decorator package color scheme/theme is to consider the colors you are using in your wedding, such as the colors from the bridesmaids' dresses & flower colors/types you've chosen... that color scheme is usually carried throughout the event. (You are welcome to drop off swatches of your colors or invitation example to our office so that we can match your colors as closely as possible). The next thing to consider is your location/venue... if your wedding is in a beachy, tropical location, then you would stay away from the choices listed as "formal" & stick to the colors/themes that would be appropriate for your location. Also, the season/time of year you have your wedding is a consideration as well. If you still are having a hard time choosing or can't decide between two color schemes/themes, call us & we can help you narrow down what you'll need & create something special that's perfect for you. No worries!
2-- How & when do I order the decorator package I want?
At final payment time for your destination wedding trip (usually 60 days prior to departure, depending on destination), this is the best time to choose & place your order for the decorator package that you want. We can certainly discuss your wedding colors & themes at any time throughout the destination wedding process, but in order to have the amount of decorations you will need, we do not place wedding decoration orders before 60 days prior to your departure. Why? Because head count numbers can change... many family & friends unadvisedly wait until the last minute to book their trip, & we need to have time to order & receive what you want & have the correct supply of wedding decorations on hand for your reception dinner. 3-- Can I substitute colors or combinations from the color schemes/themes list?
We want you to have the colors & theme you wish for your destination wedding, so yes, of course you can mix & match or substitute one color for another from the above list; if you don't see exactly what you are looking for, we can also help customize what you need based on your wedding colors & theme. We need at least 45 days notice to be able to make substitutions, as we must order the proper materials to make your color scheme/theme happen & cannot guarantee some things based on time it takes to get materials in from our suppliers.
We do our absolute best to match the wedding colors & theme you have chosen to the decorator package you choose, but we cannot absolutely guarantee an exact match on some items, as there are many hues & shades of each color. We will get it as close as we can. However, for all decorator packages regardless of theme, color or style, we reserve the right to substitute items & limit items based on availability, color, cost, volume, size, weight of materials, and/or discontinuation by manufacturer.
4-- How do I get my decorator package? How do I get it to my wedding destination? Can I ship it?
Brides & grooms usually meet with us in our office a week or two before the wedding to pick up their wedding decoration package & to go over everything one last time before they depart. We do not pay for shipping of your decorations to you or to your destination, but we can ship them to your home or office if necessary by your FedEx or UPS account or your credit card. Unless you are getting married in the 50 United States, we strongly advise against shipping these items to your destination, as many of these items can be held up for weeks and/or confiscated in customs... bottom line, they won't get there! We do NOT pay for shipping or insurance nor recommend that you ship your decorations to your destination, as there is no guarantee they will arrive there or be in good condition if & when they do arrive, nor is there any guarantee that your decorations will be secured at your hotel until your arrival & not disappear in the meantime. We strongly, 100% advise that you take an extra suitcase or two with you filled with your decorations, & we advise for breakable items that you take the breakable items ON the plane with you as a carry-on. If you are doing a destination wedding where your family & friends are coming, then there should be someone in your party who can carry this on the plane for you if you do not have room (or disperse decorations in small amounts with your bridal party). Don't worry, this is all very easy to get to your destination... we do this all the time & our clients do the same. (Note: lighters or matches & scissors/cutting instruments of any type are not allowed on the plane & must be packed in your checked baggage).
5-- What exactly comes in my decorator package? Can I change items after I've picked them up?
As long-time wedding coordinators & decorators, we complete your wedding decorator's package with items we know will work well with your location. Items we use on many of our weddings include (but not limited to): votive candles & candleholders, minimal accent flowers & flower petals (silk, not real) in colors & types complementing your theme, ribbons, fabrics, bridal tulle, polished colored pebbles, glass gems, beads, pearls, leis, natural materials (such as shells, stones/rocks, feathers, sand, raffia, faux fruits, etc.) & anything else that goes along with the theme that you choose, depending on package chosen. We do not use all materials for all packages, only certain items that go with certain packages. Once your theme/color package is chosen & items are ordered, there are no changes allowed, so please choose carefully before ordering.
6-- How much decorations will I receive in my package for my wedding reception?
The amount of decorations all depends on the size of your wedding. If we have booked 15 persons for your destination wedding trip, then we will include enough decorations for your tables to cover 15 persons table-seated for dinner. If we have booked 30 persons for your destination wedding, then we would include twice the amount of decorations to cover twice the persons, 30. If we've booked 100 people, then yes, you will get enough decorations to cover that many! This decoration amount is based solely on NUMBER OF PERSONS BOOKED WITH TIKI TRIPS. If some of your group books elsewhere, then we do not include decorations to cover persons we do not book, so please make sure for smoothest wedding group coordination, VIP perks, getting what you pay for, strong-arm travel protection ( http://www.tikitrips.com/strongarm ) AND getting the most decorations, everyone in your group must book with Tiki Trips.
7-- What about decoration of the wedding ceremony area?
Decoration of your actual wedding ceremony location area itself is handled by the wedding coordinator at your hotel/venue location & is usually included with your wedding ceremony package. We do not provide the ceremony location decorations, as they usually are very large & unable to easily transport down to your ceremony location. The local folks will handle all wedding ceremony decoration items & issues. Your decorator package covers the decorations for your wedding dinner reception tables.
8-- Are these decorations mine to keep? Or do I have to return them to Tiki Trips after my wedding?
These decorations in your decorator package are a GIFT to you for your wedding, complimentary from us at Tiki Trips! We want you to keep these items to remind you of your beautiful, special wedding day. Many wedding couples also have a reception at home after the destination wedding, so these materials can come in very handy doing "double duty" by using them again to decorate at that event as well! Of course, if you do not want or cannot use any of the items in the future, you are welcome to return them to us to utilize for future events.
9-- Your decorator package includes minimal silk flowers, so what if I want real, fresh flowers/petals for my wedding reception dinner tables? Or big bouquets of them?
Contact your wedding coordinator at the hotel/venue location to arrange for fresh flowers/petals to be ordered & delivered to your wedding location. Tiki Trips is not a florist & does not provide any large floral bouquets/arrangements, whether they are fresh/real or silk/artificial. We only provide silk/artificial accent flowers & petals to be sprinkled on wedding tables or used with candles & small containers. (You aren't allowed to take fresh flowers or fruits or live anything into foreign countries, fyi).
10-- Who takes my decorator package & does the actual decoration of my wedding reception tables?
You are responsible for transporting your decorator package to your wedding location. We suggest that you designate either the wedding coordinator or someone in your group to be responsible for taking the decorator package items & decorating the tables (if you have a larger group, your decorator person will need another person or two to assist). We do not suggest that the bride/groom do their own decorating, as you will be 110% wrapped up with your wedding & your guests. (How awkward would it be to see the bride or groom doing their own decorating right before or after the ceremony?!). Typically, reception/dinner tables are being set around the time you are actually getting married, so we recommend that the person you designate to decorate do so right after your ceremony is over (as long as they are not required to be in wedding photos). We will provide you with an instructions sheet in your package to help with getting the decorating done right :-)
11-- What happens if my decorations are lost/damaged in shipping or on arrival at my destination?
We do not replace lost, damaged or stolen decorations, so because of this, we recommend that you personally pick up your decorations from our office & personally take with you on the plane. You want to make 100% sure that you get these decorations to your destination, & the only way to 100% guarantee this is to take them with you personally. If you do not live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area & wish to have the items shipped to you, we can certainly arrange for your decorator package to be shipped to your home or office.
12-- Is there anything I cannot or should not take with me to my destination wedding?
Yes, do NOT take any real, live anything to your destination wedding... that means real flowers, real fruit, spoilable food, non-prepackaged edible items, animals, anything perishable, etc. Also, do not take expensive jewelry, heirloom pieces, or anything you can't afford to lose. Also, be sure to choose un-complicated wedding attire for a destination wedding (for a beach wedding, stay away from giant ballgown-style wedding dresses or long sleeves or long trains or full suits/tuxes), as that will be difficult to transport & hotter than blazes to wear on your wedding day at the beach. Always, ALWAYS take your wedding dress/tuxes/suits/attire ON THE PLANE WITH YOU (including shoes & all related accessories & undergarments). One thing you can count on: if your dress/clothes or accessories are remotely valuable (& with the invention of sites such as Ebay, they ALL are!) you absolutely do not want your precious items stolen from you out of your checked luggage on the most important event of your life!
13--Is there a minimum requirement of persons needed to be booked to qualify for the decorator package?
Yes, you need a minimum of 10 guests (not including bride & groom) to qualify for the decorator package. Anything smaller than this number will not have this package included.
14-- What if I don't need or want decorations for my destination wedding? Can I get credit for something else?
No, if you do not choose to take wedding decorations for your reception/dinner, then we will not order any for you. There is no refund or credit for something else if you do not choose to utilize this complimentary feature for your destination wedding. This decorator package is a GIFT to the bride & groom for booking their wedding group with us at Tiki Trips!
15-- Can I order a decorator package from Tiki Trips if I am not having a destination wedding?
Yes, you can order a decorator package from our office for regular weddings at home, special events, birthdays, anniversary parties, etc.... please contact us for a quote on your desired theme/decor. Packages start at $200 for a dozen people & go up, based on amount & expense of decorations needed, how elaborate or basic the decorations are, assistance required with decorating, & many other factors. Please inquire with our office for more details.
